With activity being so low recently it's probably moot to try and figure out an actual tournament structure, but for game purposes, I would like to at least figure out: Who won Nationals?
The final is this Saturday (the 27th); if we can at least decide on a winner if not the finalists and semi-finalists, I think that would be fantastic.
If we don't come up with anything else before the 27th (i.e., if no one responds) I propose that we default to Rikkai since there's precedent for them being a championship team in the past.
Nationals starts this Saturday, and runs every Saturday in the month of September, with the finals on the 27th.
I know we've been pretty inactive lately. Senbatsu didn't do a whole lot to spark activity, so if anyone has any other suggestions -- even non-tennisy things -- I think we might all benefit from some brainstorming.
Of course, that is if everyone's still interested in playing.
So -- interest check? Plot ideas? Questions or concerns?
Since I didn't get any more responses to room assignment preferences, I went ahead and assigned each remaining attendee a number, then used a random number generator to generate pairs. I only threw out selections when both characters had the same player or were on the same canon team.
I couldn't recall offhand if we had decided that Kite would be supervising a team or not -- if not, then we can consider that Banji's team.
At the end of Senbatsu, the supervisors will be selecting a group to represent Japan against a visiting European team. ( under the cutCollapse )
If I've missed anything, then please let me know! team three kind of scares me
Yes, I'm spamming. I uh. I wanted to keep posts separate. :D;
SENBATSU ATTENDANCE:( list under cutCollapse )
I believe this gives us 20 PCs plus Yagyuu. Crys has okay'd sending Shishido, so: 22.
Blanche has suggested four advisors with teams of five (or six) each; to do this then we need a solid 24.
I've considered adding Tanishi if only because Higa's hosting (I'm assuming that we're going with this); I also wouldn't mind sending NPCs from other teams if that would be more likely. I know Anne Marie offered Akazawa in small text with maaaaaybe -- he's another possibility.
As for advisors, we want four, and we have a couple to choose from: Sakaki, Ryuuzaki, Banji, Osamu ... and possibly Kite, whom I only suggest because Higa's hosting, and there's extra wacky fun in that possibility. (Hanamura's out because Jyousei's just a junior high, I think. She can go bother Ryoma at the junior Senbatsu. :D)
My thoughts here are either a) not Kite, because he's technically a stopgap, or b) between Ryuuzaki and Banji, send the advisor of whichever team takes third.
I also want to open the floor for roommate / teammate suggestions. I know Atobe and Yukimura are rooming together for plot reasons, but if there are any other requests, here's the place to put them.
(Seriously, I just want everything organized nicely in comments, more or less.)
How does everyone feel about Aug 17-23 for Senbatsu?
I figure that should be a week when most of us are here. If we want to play an international team, we could do the 25-26? (I was thinking Germany, since there's connections to Tezuka, but if we wanted to do another country, I'm cool with that, too.)
Also, here are the upcoming important dates: Aug 2:
Regional finals; Hyoutei vs. Rikkai (Rikkai win). [I think Yamabuki and Seigaku play this weekend, too, for the third place spot - any thoughts there?]Sept 1:
Start of term (back to school). Every weekend in September:
I propose we do an actual draw to determine where teams get placed in the brackets. We have names for National-level schools; if we don't want to deal with names, then we could put in random numbers? Though if we have ideas for where we want to place our kids and at what levels of the tournament we want them to play each other, that's fine too. But we should work it out ahead of time so we're not flailing at the last minute.
I'll be back 07 AUG!
Expect Gakkun to be obnoxious about their win, this past weekend~
And I'll be returning with someone much more punny~
While we're talking tournaments, shall we decide the attendance of Senbatsu?
I think it makes the most sense for everyone to just opt up the muses/oc's they think would get the invite and we can go from there. Thoughts?
Most of you probably saw this over at XP, but I'll be gone July 26-August 6, so I'm putting Ryoma on a mini-hiatus~ He'll just be working at the cafe and playing tennis and all that regular Ryoma stuff he does. XD;; <3 (And hopefully not getting into too much trouble!)
Just heads-up, Asuka decided she wants a journal today -- kindly_cruel
. Friending is optional, she's probably only familiar with Rikkaidai (Akaya's senpais), and maybe Zaizen?
So that'd be it for now. I'll put up more information on her in her profile page. :D;ps. I blame Jenjen. :D;
A couple things!
1. Regional matches
started this past Saturday and will continue with semifinals on the 26th and regional finals on the 2nd of August. LET'S DISCUSSING? Again, I think we're dealing with the top schools in the region, but we should figure out at least who's at the finals and obviously who wins regionals. Would also be nice if we could figure out how far the other schools went. I personally have no problems with a Seigaku vs Rikkai final but if anyone has any other ideas I'm happy to hear them.
(For other regions: I think we may still have Shiten take Kansai; I don't know how far Higa would get but they should at least place so they can advance, right?)
2. As of last Saturday, we're on summer break.
:D This goes until August 31,
with Nationals taking place starting September 6th. (And going every weekend in September, according to the calendar that I have. Anyone know if this is incorrect?)
3. We need to figure out where we're going to hold Nationals. There have been motions to hold it in Okinawa this year, but the floor is open for suggestions.
4. If we're going to do Senbatsu, then we should do it in August, I think -- any single week would be good but if we want to do two weeks that's also an option. (I personally will be gone from Aug 7 - 10, but that should have no bearing on what the rest of the group wants to do.) We won't necessarily have to have our kids compete against a foreign team, but it is an option. Thoughts?
... I think that's all for now.
